This is a rare original vintage Ashtead Pottery jar vase from the 1920's. It measures 5 1/2 inches or 14 cm in height and 3 3/4 inches or 9.5 cm in diameter. It has been repaired as shown in the photos. Other than that, it is in very good condition for its age. The colors are beautiful and it would be a nice addition to a collection. It is signed on the bottom, Ashtead Pottery BCN SHTD Made in England X5 g bf. It would be great to use as a vase, a pencil, pen or paintbrush holder, a toothbrush holder, etc.
Ashtead Potters Limited was established by Sir Lawrence Weaver in 1923 to generate employment for disabled ex-servicemen. Located in the village of Ashtead, Surrey, the studio pottery ran until January 1935, a lifespan of just 12 years.
