This is a beautiful original antique Georgian box from the early 1800's. It is made of a beautiful wood with a different lighter wood inlaid around the edges. It has a solid brass top handle. It measures 9 1/2 inches in length, 5 inches in height and 4 1/2 inches in depth. It would have once had a key but the key is no longer with the box. The escutcheon is brass. The inside may have once had two dividers to make 3 compartments but it is now one large compartment. I believe it was once a tea caddy but it can now be used for jewelry, supplies, sewing, etc. It is truly a gorgeous Georgian box.
